New Equivalent Program Policy
The new policy reads:
Programs may not run alternative counseling degree programs in the same area as an accredited program that do not have equivalent requirements in terms of credit hours, core curriculum, and supervised clinical experiences.
The change is that this applies to degree programs only. For example, a department cannot offer a CACREP-accredited 60 semester hour Clincial Mental Health Counseling program and also a 48 semester hour Professional Counseling program that would both lead to licensure in the state.
