The Master of Arts in Counseling community counseling concentration is a 48 credit hour CACREP accredited program that prepares students for positions in community agency settings. Students may opt to complete an additional 12 credit hour advanced certification program post-degree to meet the 60 credit requirement for licensure in New Jersey. With a community counseling degree and professional counselor license (LPC), counselors may work in a variety of community settings including mental health agencies, hospitals, private and public care centers, and private practice. Students engage in a combination of theoretical and clinical courses culminating in a series of field experiences in which they learn to work with diverse populations.

The Community Counseling program was initially accredited in January 2009 and has maintained its accreditation. In July 2017, the Community Counseling program was converted to a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.
