The Doctoral (Ph.D.) Program in Counselor Education prepares students to evaluate the theory and practice of counseling through quantitative and qualitative research and to become educators and leaders in the counseling field. The Program of study includes advanced courses in counseling theory and research, a doctoral practicum and internship and a dissertation study. Students also select a 12 credit hour cognate to broaden their knowledge base and acquire additional areas of specialization and expertise. Faculty members are committed to an active student mentoring process that promotes professional identity and personal achievement. Full-time students can complete the Program in three years.
