Syracuse University

The doctoral program in Counselor Education and Supervision is central to the Department’s mission. This program builds on a CACREP master’s curriculum to offer students advanced theoretical knowledge, deeper professional identity, advanced research and writing skills, and a host of experiences in providing counseling and clinical supervision. The Department has identified five areas of special expertise that afford students unique opportunities. These are: Clinical supervision, college mental health counseling, counseling people with disabilities, the Future Professoriate, and social justice and urban youth. (See the Department website for more details about these areas.) Students will work with their advisors to design a program that matches their professional goals. Graduates of the doctoral program have accepted positions in counselor education, university and college counseling centers, and mental health agencies. Funding and tuition remission is available for full-time students; additional funds for professional development while in the program are also available.
