The School Counseling Program prepares prospective counselors to assume positions in elementary, middle, and secondary schools. It stresses the cognitive, affective, and physical growth and development of children, with a particular emphasis on utilizing counselors’ knowledge and skills to maximize student learning. Within the School Counseling Curriculum students acquire competencies for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling programs. Full-time students complete the program in two years and one summer. During the clinical component of the Program, students complete a 150 hour practicum and 600 hour internship that are consistent with their career goals.
