Position Announcement: Assistant Director of Accreditation

The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Accreditation who assists the Vice President of Accreditation and Training (VPAT) and the accreditation team in the management of all aspects of the accreditation process. This includes ensuring that all applications are processed in a timely manner from receipt to the final Board review and decision. The position requires presence at CACREP offices in Alexandria, Virginia, and cannot be performed remotely.

Position Description:

The essential functions of the Assistant Director are

  1. Manage all aspects of the accreditation process for assigned program load
  2. Provide guidance and support to current and future constituents
  3. Contribute to accreditation process effectiveness
  4. Support the CACREP Board of Directors’ (BOD) accreditation review process
  5. Support the development of and assist in the delivery of training for reviewers and constituents
  6. Utilize approved and standardized technology applications to foster consistency in accreditation review and maintenance processes

This position requires occasional travel to conduct training workshops.


  1. A minimum of a Master’s degree.
  2. Strong analytical skills
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  4. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  5. Highly organized and detail oriented
  6. Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects and responsibilities
  7. Cultural awareness and ability to adapt easily in a variety of environments
  8. Preferred qualifications include a background in or understanding of counseling, accreditation, or higher education; knowledge of student learning outcomes in higher education; understanding of multiple training strategies; and technological expertise.
