Policy A.3.h. Extension of Accreditation Status

Policy A.3.h. Extension of Accredited Status. A counselor education program may request an extension of accredited status if it can demonstrate extenuating circumstances. If the extension is granted, upon completion of the accreditation review process, the counselor education program’s next period of accreditation would include the extension time – for a total of no more than eight (8) years of accreditation.

Revised policy – Effective July 1, 2026

Policy A.3.h. Extension of Accredited Status. A counselor education program may request an extension of accredited status for cause if it can demonstrate extenuating circumstances. If the extension is granted, upon completion of the accreditation review process, the counselor education program’s next cycle of accreditation would be reduced by the length of the extension granted in the prior cycle.
