The Clinical Mental Health Counseling program consists of 60 required semester hours, 9 of the hours are required practicum and internship field experiences. The program also include required courses in addiction,family counseling, brief solution counseling, and human sexuality. The program is designed to prepare students for employment as professional counselors in diverse clinical mental health community settings such as community mental health, substance abuse treatment, and corrections. The program meets the academic requirements for licensing in professional
counseling (LPC) in Georgia and certification by the National Board of Counselors.

Graduates areeligible for these credentials after successfully passing the appropriate exams and completing required post-degree supervised counseling experiences.  Please not that this program is currently accredited as a Community Counseling program.

The Community Counseling program was initially accredited in January 2009 and has maintained its accreditation. In January of 2018, the Community Counseling program was accredited as Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.
