Canisius University is located in Buffalo, NY and has an excellent reputation and working collaborations with area professionals. The program aligns with the Jesuit tradition of care of the whole person and has a tradition of being practitioner oriented. Faculty provide a responsive, collegial relationship with students. Faculty welcome students from diverse cultures. In addition, faculty bring experience from the field and other professional work that informs their teaching. The community counseling program is a 60 hour program that leads the license in mental health counseling in NYS. Since it is a 60 hour program, there is general portability across states.

Program History

The Community Counseling program was initially accredited in January 2009 and has maintained its accreditation. In July 2013, the Community Counseling program was converted to a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.
