The specialized practice area was found to substantially meet the standards with some minor standards-related deficiencies for which the Board requires further information.

Additional information is required for the following standards:

Standard 1.K – The Counselor Education Program needs to report back on efforts to recruit and retain a diverse student group.

Standard 1.Q – The Counselor Education Program needs to report back on efforts to recruit and retain a diverse faculty group.

Standard 2.B – The Counselor Education Program needs to address program objectives.

Standard 2.C – The Counselor Education Program needs to report on student active involvement with the counseling profession.

Standard 2.D – The Counselor Education Program needs to address syllabi requirements.

Standard 2.F.5.l – The Counselor Education Program must address curriculum on suicide prevention models and strategies.

Standard 2.F.5.m – The Counselor Education Program must address curriculum on crisis intervention, trauma-informed, and community-based strategies.

Standard 4.A – The Counselor Education Program needs to address the systematic evaluation plan.

Standard 4.B – The Counselor Education Program needs to address evaluation of program objectives.

Standard 4.C – The Counselor Education Program needs to report back on the use of program evaluation data to inform program modifications.

Program History

The Community Counseling program was initially accredited in March 1993 and has maintained its accreditation.  It became a Clinical Mental Health Counseling program in January 2016.
