Master’s in Counseling
Specialization: Clinical Mental Health Counseling
The School of Professional Counseling at Lindsey Wilson University provides accessible, career-focused education designed specifically for working adults and individuals already serving in the helping professions. Fully accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), our programs prioritize practical, real-world application over abstract theory, ensuring you gain the concrete skills needed to make an immediate impact in your community.
We pride ourselves on offering a high-quality, genuinely affordable education led by an incredibly responsive, deeply caring faculty who understand the complex demands of balancing graduate school with work and family life.
Our 60-hour M.Ed. curriculum is structured as a broad-based, generalist degree that prepares you for practical, face-to-face counseling careers in private practices, community mental health agencies, and institutional settings. Because our curriculum meets strict national standards, graduates are typically ready for immediate eligibility as licensed associates or residents in their state upon graduation.
By following our structured track, working adults can complete this transformative degree in two years.
Tailored for Working Adults
To accommodate your busy lifestyle, we offer two flexible, high-touch delivery pathways:
- The Online Program: Built for ultimate flexibility, our fully online track allows you to earn your degree from anywhere, pairing accessible online coursework with hands-on, localized clinical field placements in your home community.
- Extended Campuses (Hybrid Format): For those who prefer in-person connection, our sites in eastern Kentucky and surrounding states utilize an innovative hybrid weekend format (Friday evenings and Saturdays). This allows you to maintain your weekday work schedule while receiving face-to-face instruction close to home.
Why Choose Lindsey Wilson?
- Highly Responsive and Caring Faculty: Our faculty are approachable, supportive mentors who answer the phone, respond to your needs, and genuinely care about your personal and professional growth.
- Focus on Practical Application: We cut through the academic jargon to focus on what actually works in the counseling room. Our training is grounded in real-world techniques, diagnostic skills, and evidence-based interventions you can use on day one.
- Affordable and Accessible: We believe that financial barriers shouldn’t keep passionate people out of the counseling field. Our program is intentionally structured to be affordable and manageable for working-class individuals and families.
- Built-In Support Systems: From specialized adult education enrollment counselors who guide you through financial aid, to residency faculty who provide localized academic and clinical advising, you are supported by a team that knows your name.
