Lindsey Wilson University
Lindsey Wilson College School of Professional Counseling offers a Masters of Education in Counseling and Human Development with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Our program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). We offer a broad-based generalist degree that prepares students for careers as professional counselors. In most circumstances, students upon graduation are immediately eligible for licensure as an associate or resident in their state. Our graduates often pursue mental health counselor positions within institutional, community, and private practice settings.
Our masters program is offered at 25 sites across five states: Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio and Tennessee. For specific locations, please visit www.lindsey.edu
Our masters degree is a sixty (60) hour program. Thirty-nine hours from nine core areas provide foundation course work and clinical experience. Additionally, there are twenty-one hours of specialty requirements in mental health counseling that provide training in specific areas of counseling techniques and practice. Students who follow their program of study will graduate in two years.
To meet the needs of busy people, our classes are scheduled on a weekend format—Friday night and Saturday. In addition to convenient class scheduling, we support our graduate students with experienced faculty and personal attention. We have on-site enrollment counselors who understands the needs of adult students and are available at each extended program site to provide individual pre-enrollment counseling as well as information about financial aid. Resident Faculty Supervisors are available for academic advising.
