The emphasis of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling track of the UVM Counseling Program is to prepare students to understand and be competent in their role as professional counselors -to act as facilitators of growth and change for individuals, groups, and organizations. To this end, the program provides students with a generalist training in counseling with particular focus on intentional practice, diversity and social justice issues, and group work. The Mental Health Counseling track is a 60 credit-hour program, leading to a Master’s of Science degree and meeting the educational requirements for State licensure (there are additional post-degree requirements for licensure).
