The M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree prepares students to be practicing counselors in a variety of community and mental health settings. The curriculum emphasizes the role of helping relationships and the development of individual, group, and family counseling skills. Students are qualified to sit for the National Counselor Examination (NCE) before graduation and may apply to become a National Certified Counselor (NCC) upon completion of theprogram. Following 3200 hours of post-master’s supervised experience, individuals who have NCC status may apply for licensure to become a Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health (LPCMH) in the state of Delaware.

The Community Counseling program was initially accredited in March 1998 and has maintained its accreditation. It became a Clinical Mental Health Counseling program in July 2013.
