The College of New Jersey

TCNJ Master’s Program in Community Counseling prepares students to fulfill the role of counselor in a diverse array of settings: colleges, government facilities, community counseling agencies, gerontological programs, hospitals and chemical dependency treatment centers. Students in the Community Counseling program are required to prepare themselves to function in one of two sub-specializations: Human Services Counseling or Substance Abuse and Addiction Counseling. The required core courses establish the basic knowledge and skills pertinent to the counseling profession, while specialized courses provide the specific knowledge and skills that are apropos to the two areas of emphasis.
