The focus of the PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision is preparation for academic positions in counseling programs. In particular, emphasis is provided for school counselor educators. In addition, the program prepares counselor educators for leadership roles in counselor education, supervision, counseling practice, and research. The program extends beyond the entry-level, 48-hour master’s program. The doctoral program requires 66 to 78 credit hours beyond the master’s degree in school counseling.
