California State University Sacramento

The Counselor Education program seeks to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the needs and concerns of a diverse society. Graduates leave with a strong foundation in counseling theories and techniques to apply in a multicultural society. Emphasis is placed on both personal and professional development with experiential learning infused throughout the entire curriculum. Several courses involve participation in community agencies and schools prior to the required supervised field study placements. As an important part of their development as professional counselors, students are required to participate in their own personal counseling with professionals not affiliated with our educational programs.

Rehabilitation Counseling

The Rehabilitation Counseling Program prepares graduates to serve all individuals with disabilities, learn disability law, and advocate for people with disabilities. This program provides several opportunities for our graduates to be multiculturally competent counselors in the professional world.
