The MTSU school counseling concentration prepares students to work in elementary and secondary schools with the potential for recommendation for licensure as a school counselor, Pre K-12. The program has a strong developmental emphasis and the ASCA National Model serves as the foundation for training.

The program was found to meet all standards in a satisfactory manner.
Program History
Beginning in Fall 2019, enrolling students will complete an Ed.S. degree. Prior to that time, enrolling students completed an M.Ed. degree. The M.Ed. is recognized as an accredited degree for conferral dates through December 2021. For graduates in May 2022 and beyond, the Ed.S. is the recognized accredited degree.
