Old Dominion University  

School counseling is one of four specialty areas that Old Dominon University offers. The program requires 48 credits, a 100-hour practicum, a 600 hour internship, and a comprehensive examination. The program faculty are particularly committed to educating students who are dedicated to reducing disparities in society based on race, gender, class, and sexual orientation, and other social group membership. Master’s degree students are prepared for careers as counselors in

schools (pre-kindergarten through 12th grade).

Program History

The Board accepted at its July 2014 meeting a Substantive Change Report indicating the the integration of the New College Institute's programs into the Norfolk campus. The accreditation for these programs is now reflected in the accreditation for Old Dominion University, Norfolk.
