Montana State University
The School Counseling program is designed to prepare students to work in public or private schools as professional counselors. Upon completion, students are eligible to apply for a Class 6 Specialist Educator License as a school counselor with the Montana Office of Public Instruction. No teaching license or certificate is required for the Class 6 Specialist License (School Counselor). Competent school counseling practice is informed and guided by theory. The School Counseling program emphasizes thorough knowledge of counselees’ developmental and social contexts. During counseling practicum and internship, students are closely supervised in their use of counseling skills with school aged students.
