The Department of Counseling and Human Services offers master’s degree programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. The programs currently require completion of 51 semester hours moving progressively during the next few years to 60 semester hours. The programs are cohort based, with most students finishing in about two years. The program curriculum is developmental, planned and sequential moving from coursework focused on counselor basics then evolving toward advanced counselor knowledge, skills and personal characteristics. Both CMHC and SC programs require completion of a series of skills acquisition and personal development experiences as part of the curriculum.
